I invented a new beverage. The official name of this beverage has not yet been determined, but the working title is When Mommy's Happy. Those of you who are underage, please click away.
Here's the recipe:
1 lime
1 oz Cointreau
2 oz vodka
7-Up or Diet 7-Up
Fill a highball glass with ice. Cut lime in half, and squeeze both halves into the glass. Add Cointreau and vodka. Fill with 7-Up. Stir. Enjoy responsibly.
I googled these ingredients, and did not find an existing similar drink, so I'm taking full credit for the recipe. Technically, this is actually two servings of alcohol, so behave accordingly. Mix it, and share it with a friend. Another option is to cut the alcohol in half, and mix the drink in a smaller glass.
I almost feel virtuous when I drink When Mommy's Happy, because it has an entire lime in it. It's sweet, but not too sweet, because of all the lime.
Let me know what you think.

Sounds yummy! I didn't know you were a mixologist. (That's probably not the right word, though. What's the word for someone who INVENTS drinks?)
But I'm not so sure that I want to thank you for the link to Alcohol and Nutrition 101. I really did not want to know that one of my very favorite drinks was also the most caloric in the list they had. (C'mon--550 calories for a measly 5 oz. of Margarita? What does half a pitcher add up to??? Although it was about 13 years ago that I did that for the first and last time...)
Oh, BTW: Great name for the drink, too! Should I start ordering it, educating the bartenders after giving them a "What kind of bartender are you?" look?
The person who invents drinks is called a "drink inventor." I looked it up.
And yes, if you could start ordering it, and giving me credit, maybe I'll make millions in residuals. Like I'm sure Carlos Herrera did.
You know, that guy that invented the margarita?
WARNING! WARNING!
Too much consumption of this "When Mommy's Happy" libation can cause one to flash a room full of people at your next summer party! So unless you're prepared to show off your big "Tat-tas" to your company, stick to a Miller light.
Yours truly,
Pot Sticker
P.S. Nice Tat-tas!
Well, I finally tried a "When Mommy's Happy". Very good! Although I used ordinary triple sec instead of Cointreau (I don't have any of the latter stocked in my bar)--that does cut down a teensy bit on the alcohol content.
One thing I need to do is be more careful shopping for limes: I ended up buying organic limes, which I found out were $1 each(!) when I was at the register. Oh well, they were very tasty limes (even before going into the drink!) and of course, when trying out E. Peevie's invention for the first time, why not splurge?
Anyhoo, I definitely recommend this fine new beverage. I'm just wondering how/when I'll try to order one somewhere.
Now that you mentioned it, I actually created the drink with Triple Sec, not Cointreau. I don't know why I wrote Cointreau. Brain spasm, I guess.
$1 per lime?! That's outrageous. At my local produce store, they're currently 10 for $1. That's a lot of When Mommy's Happy!
And Pot Sticker--thank you for the compliment! But I don't need liquid encouragement to flash; it's just part of who I am.
Oh, so Pot Sticker was talking about you, Ms. Peevie? Boy, parties with you have certainly changed over the years! Don't remember ever seeing that happen with the Claymores!
P.S. Yes, 10 for a dollar is exactly the price I'm used to for limes, not 10 for *10* dollars. I just picked them up off the wrong bin at the Jewel...
