I Will Survive

Pray for me.

I'm going camping with the Girl Scouts in a couple of hours. I hear they do unfortunate things like trying to cook bacon on a stick over a campfire; and there are crafts involving pine cones and pipe cleaners.

I like the theoretical idea of camping. I like nature just fine. But I also like my creature comforts, like Angel DVDs, wine, air conditioning, and Hungarian paprika.

I'm sure it will be fine. M. Peevie will have fun, she'll carry memories of her first camping trip with her forever, and I will survive two days without television and Mr. Peevie. But for sure I am bringing a full flask of When Mommy's Happy. Shhh--don't tell. It's against the rules.

Cooking bacon on a stick? I'd think you'd be in heaven!

Be sure to throw in an impromptu game of Frisbee Golf. Or maybe even Ultimate Frisbee--that's especially fun when somebody gets poked in the eye and loses their contact lens.

Careful with the When Mommy's Happy. Might look suspicious if Mommy's enjoying the pine cone and pipecleaner crafting.

Nice making an example of rule-following for M. Peevie by intending (pre-meditated) to break one on her first camping trip.

Yes, it's important to teach girls that they should question authority appropriately, but there is a time and a place...

Bucky,
Judgmentally, (but ain't there a time and a place for that, too, Miss Best Juror Ever?)

p.s. And there's not enough money in the world for me to exchange places with you the next two nights!! Good luck to ya.

Boy, It's true that I do love bacon. But cooked on a stick over a fire? Ridiculous. Especially when there's a full kitchen available.

Fortunately, all of our food was cooked the regular way, except we did have s'mores around the fire at night. Yum.

No Frisbee Golf or Ultimate this weekend, but plenty of other fun stuff.

I could not find the flask, and my WMH spilled out of the Thermos because I forgot to put the water-tight lid on under the cup-lid. Dang. I had to rely on the other moms and dads, who basically brought a full bar with them.

Bucky--Bringing WMH is not about teaching the girls anything, darling. It's about having a grown-up beverage responsibly with other adults when the kiddies go to bed.

Wish you had been there with us; you woulda loved it.

And Mrs. Peevie, thanks for the grown-up beverage I enjoyed at your house this week.
